Who is luk?

In 2011 I graduated as a mental healthcare nurse, with the desire to be able to make a difference not only as a ‘care-giver’, but more importantly in connecting TOGETHER WITH others on the journey we all make through life. A difference that can be made in a pure, simple, human connection. I believe that authentic encounters have the power to change not only individuals but also the world.

From this belief and deep trust, and through my own path of healing, also arose the passion to seek these deeper connections and journeys with individuals or groups who are ‘on the move’ or ‘in process’. Having worked in various work contexts (child and adolescent psychiatry, mental health care, and being a teacher in higher education), I felt a great motivation to take a role and responsibility in our society as a psychotherapist for those who need ‘something’.

As a psychotherapist, I see myself primarily as a facilitator of a process, a guide, and a companion on the journey. In this way, I especially want to be present for others, to fully engage in the encounter, to lay my hand under the suffering of the other: with everything that is (or isn’t). I do not see therapy as curing or solving a disease, but as healing and strengthening what has been touched or disrupted. I’m not the all-knowing expert that sees every solution, but I’m an expert in puzzling together towards the solution.

Sometimes, life is hard work and struggle, but life is also about celebrating, being amazed by the beauty, and enjoying. That is what I wish for others with great love, and what I fully commit to as a fellow traveler, encountering in this unique journey which is called ‘life’.
